鳥文字が生まれたのは、妻へのプレゼントがきっかけでした。彼女の名前「藍」をデザインし、型紙に起こしたのが始まりです。

以前からずっと美しいと感じていた熊野牛王神符のコンセプトを、自分なりにアレンジしました。私たちが暮らす石垣島は、八重山諸島の中心に位置し、海と空と鳥たちの楽園です。この島に住んでいて湧き上がる創作のエネルギーを、鳥文字という構造の中に込めました。

古代文字のように、象形文字のように——文字が絵によって生まれた足跡をなぞるように、この鳥文字は誕生しました。

The Bird Script began as a gift for my wife. It started when I designed a stencil around her name, Ai — the kanji for indigo.

I had long admired the visual beauty of the Kumano Goō-fu, the sacred crow-script talismans of Kumano Shrine, and set out to reinterpret that concept in my own way. We live on Ishigaki Island, the heart of the Yaeyama archipelago — a paradise of sea, sky, and birds. The creative energy that wells up from living here is woven into every character of the Bird Script.

Like ancient writing, like pictographs — tracing the footsteps of an age when letters were born from images — this is how the Bird Script came to life.
