作家について

**TORIMOJI（鳥文字）**は、日本・沖縄県石垣島で生まれた、鳥の形から生まれる文字のシリーズです。

作家マシマタケシは、鳥の姿や動きから着想を得て、鳥のかたちから文字を立ち上げる独自の表現を制作しています。

それぞれの文字は、海・風・光・生命など、自然からインスピレーションを得た言葉を表しています。

この発想は、熊野三山に伝わる古い神符 熊野牛王神符 に見られる、無数の烏の形が文字を形づくる図像からも影響を受けています。

デザインは手彫りの型紙を用いた型染めによって一枚一枚手作業で染められます。

そのため、すべてのTシャツが微妙に異なる表情を持つ、一点ものです。

石垣島で手染めされた、数量限定のハンドメイド作品です。

マシマタケシ — アーティスト

山形県酒田市生まれ。東京の セツ・モードセミナー で学ぶ。

絵画、イラストレーション、デザインなど幅広い分野で活動し、国分寺の スローギャラリー を拠点に日本各地で個展を開催。

これまでに

静岡銀行、SUZUKI ファンケル、コムデギャルソン

などの企業から作品制作の依頼を受け、雑誌や出版物にも作品が掲載されている。

著書に

『幸せの色 めざめのかたち』（サンマーク出版）。

自然や生命の静かな力強さを、シンプルな形で表現する作家。

About the Artist

TORIMOJI is a series of bird-shaped characters created on Ishigaki Island in Okinawa, Japan.

Artist Takeshi Mashima creates original characters inspired by the shapes and movements of birds.

Each character represents words from nature such as sea, wind, light, and life.

The idea is partly inspired by the ancient Kumano Goou talismans, sacred papers from the Kumano shrines where countless crow shapes form mysterious calligraphic characters.

Each design is dyed by hand using traditional stencil dyeing techniques.

Because every piece is hand dyed, each T-shirt is slightly different and one of a kind.

Takeshi Mashima — Artist

Born in Sakata City, Yamagata, Japan.

Studied at Setsu Mode Seminar in Tokyo.

Working across painting, illustration, and design, Mashima has held solo exhibitions throughout Japan, with Slow Gallery in Kokubunji as a central base.

His works have been commissioned by companies including

Shizuoka Bank, Suzuki Motor, FANCL, and Comme des Garçons,

and have appeared in various magazines and publications.

He is also the author of

Colors of Happiness, Forms of Awakening (Sunmark Publishing).

Mashima’s work explores the quiet vitality of nature through simple yet expressive forms.

He is the creator of TORIMOJI, original characters formed from the shapes and movements of birds.
